The Finance Committee of Society of Mary New Zealand, met with the Mission Holdings Board of Directors. The purpose of the meeting was to further enhance the communication between the Company and the shareholder. The occasion began with a tour of the Company's major assets, followed by lunch and a discussion. As a result of the meeting, the Board further cemented the position and direction of the Company as being in support of the Society and its charitable purposes in New Zealand.

On 28 February 2002 the new Mission Winery was officially opened and blessed. It was a wonderful occasion at which about 40 Marists and 300 other invited guests were present. Fr Allan Jones, then, Provincial of the Society of Mary, blessed the building, and Fr Grahame Connolly, former Rector of Mount St Mary's Seminary, delivered a splendid the speech of re dedication. Dame Malvina Major sang three songs including Ave Maria.

This impressive transformation marks a new phase in the history of the Mission, all the while continuing to contribute to the charitable purposes of the Society of Mary and its work here in New Zealand.
